The Life of Poetry (1949) is Muriel Rukeyser’s most influential and challenging contribution to twentieth-century literary culture and criticism. Panelists introduce various approaches to reading and teaching this interdisciplinary work, paying particular attention to how it theorizes the relations among poetry, the public, and political crisis, in ways that continue to resonate.
