Digital annotation has increasingly become an object of scholarly inquiry. Scholars have explored digital texts as sites of social interaction, while granting agencies have challenged publishers to create new platforms for sustainable open-access books. This panel presents a critical overview of a number of platforms that allow readers to read and annotate texts collaboratively.
