Addressing György Lukács’s theories on modernism as he finds the phenomenon reflected in aspects of modern society, politics, ethics, and aesthetics, participants analyze his views, from his earliest pre-Marxist writings to his later Marxist positions; compare them to the works of other theoreticians; and discuss how they were interpreted in fiction.
