2. The Presidential Address, “Literature and Its Publics: Past, Present, and Future,” Roland Greene, Stanford Univ., MLA President. Greene discusses the changing idea of the public for our work as scholars and teachers and reflects on the state of the interpretive humanities in and out of the academy. How can we fashion a model of our disciplines that speaks to the need in our public culture for a complex, historically informed engagement with texts of all sorts?
