Asking whether dialogue has been prematurely relegated to the category of the familiar, the uncomplicated, and the known, speakers raise questions about or instances of dialogue in the novel that destabilize our too-familiar sense of its place and work. We want to discuss with other scholars the question of what offices dialogue serves for the novel.
